 2008 SUPER STOCK RULES

  1. BODIES

American passenger cars only

NO pickups, station wagons, or convertibles

All doors must be welded shut or bolted shut.

Trunk lids and hoods must be safely pinned for easy removal. NOT BOLTED.

All upholstery, glass, chrome or loose items must be removed.

Car must have holes covered.  Sunroofs and T-tops must be reinforced and enclosed.

No 4-wheel drive or rear engines.

All bodies stock appearing.

Aluminum body OK.

Driver’s compartment must have a firewall separating driver from fuel tank, engine area, and trunk area.

Fenders may be reasonably trimmed for tire clearance.

Front and rear fender walls may be removed.

Hood scoops allowed – but cannot obscure driver’s vision.

All sharp or torn edges must be repaired.

Custom interiors optional as long as they contain no sharp edges.

Cars must have a minimum of 4” clearance from ground to body.

Fabricated spoilers are allowed.  They may be no wider than rear of car, no taller than 5” and braces may not extend over 12”.

Molded fiberglass hoods and roofs OK for less than 3500 lb cars.

 

  1. ROLL CAGE

Mandatory 6 point roll bars, with at least 3 driver’s side bars same size as cage attached to cage and 2 passenger side bars.

Recommended tubing O.D. is 1-3/4” and .095 wall thickness.

Minimum 1-1/2” x .095.

Roll cage must be padded around driver area and have sufficient clearance between driver and sidebars.

Sub frame connectors may be added if used for roll cage mounting.

Rear bar in bumper or between frames OK.

All cages must pass inspection

If inspectors don’t think it is safe, YOU WILL NOT RACE.

All bars must have padding in driver’s area.

 

  1. DRIVER’S EQUIPMENT AND APPAREL

Driver must have helmet, safety belts, and shoulder harnesses over each shoulder

5-point harness is mandatory.  Not over three years old and in good condition.

Driver MUST wear full fire suit (top and bottom) and Snell rated helmet – no cracks.

Fire extinguisher mounted within driver’s reach is required and in working order.

Racing gloves, neck braces, and window nets are mandatory.

At least 3 safety bars must be installed in front of driver in windshield opening.

Kill switch must be installed within driver’s reach and be clearly marked ON and OFF.

 

  1. RACING SEATS

Aluminum racing seats MANDATORY.  Must be padded and bolted to frame and roll cage.

 

  1. ENGINES

Must be same make as car (Ford in Ford, GM in GM, etc.) 

Headers with collectors OK.

Motor in original location or no further back than 2” as measured from front spark plug to upper ball joint. 

No aluminum heads or blocks allowed.

410 cu. in. maximum limit.

 

 

 

 

  1. FRAME & SUSPENSION

3000 LB TOTAL WEIGHT CAR:

No aftermarket parts.  MUST be OEM.

Front suspension and frame must remain stock OEM parts in stock location.

Rear suspension must match frame.

MINIMUM 108” wheelbase.

Unibody cars may be tied from front frame to rear kickups.

Shocks do not have to be in stock location.

One shock above center of rear end OK and one shock per wheel only.

Rear kick ups may be braced and repaired but not replaced.

Suspension MUST be mounted in same fashion and locations as OEM.

Tubular front upper A-frame allowed using OEM mounts in OEM location.

Stock appearing fiberglass hood and roof OK.

 

 

3200 LB TOTAL WEIGHT CAR:

            Any car with rear leaf springs

            Front frame and suspension must be stock OEM parts. 

Front frame must remain complete to back of block.

Front upper A-frames may be aftermarket and moved.

Rear design and mounting points optional.

MINIMUM 108” wheelbase.

Aluminum stock appearing body OK.

Any weight added must be securely bolted to chassis with two ½” bolts.

HRP scales are FINAL.

All added weight must be painted white and have car number on it.

 

 

3400 LB TOTAL WEIGHT CAR:

            Front frame and suspension must be stock OEM parts. 

Front frame must remain complete to back of block.

Front upper A-frames may be aftermarket and moved.

Rear suspension may be aftermarket parts.

Rear design and mounting points optional.

MINIMUM 108” wheelbase.

Aluminum stock appearing body OK.

Any weight added must be securely bolted to chassis with two ½” bolts.

HRP scales are FINAL.

All added weight must be painted white and have car number on it.

 

  1. CARBURETOR

Only (1) 2- barrel or (1) 4-barrel carburetor.

 

  1. STEERING

Original type only.  Quickeners are allowed.

 

  1. WHEELS, TIRES, BRAKES

D.O.T. street tires, IMCA stamped modified tire, Hoosier 500 tire, G60 McCreary (Hard), or asphalt take off. 

No other racing tires.

Maximum width 11” as measured sidewall to sidewall by track measuring fork.

Grooving allowed.

Steel wheels or Baha style, with exposed wheel studs and open end lug nuts allowed.

No aluminum or mag wheels.

No tire softeners.

Bead locks and mud plugs on right rear only (foam or plastic mud plugs only).

Four wheel brakes mandatory.  May be checked at any time.

OK to have dual, adjustable custom brake pedal.

NO brake shut off.

 

  1. REAREND, TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH, FLYWHEEL

Stock transmission only.  Reverse must operate at all times

Stock Rear end only.  Floaters and locked optional.  NO traction control devices allowed.

Flywheel & Clutch – Stock type, meaning automatic for automatic transmission and standard for standard transmissions.

Ram couplers or multi disc OK.

Safety bellhousing or scattershield mandatory.

Custom clutch pedals OK.

No direct drives.

Car must go forward and backward on it’s own power.

Official’s rules are final!

  

  1. NUMBERS

Cars must have numbers on both sides and top of car and must be at least 20 inches in height and 4” in thickness.

Number MUST be legible.  You may be asked to modify your numbers so that they are legible for scoring purposes.

Maximum of three digit numbers, MUST be visible.

Recommend numbers on left front and right rear. 

All numbers shall be in contrast by color of body.

Duplicate numbers will have to be changed or modified so track officials will have no problems in identification.

 

  1. BUMPERS

Original or equivalent to.

Reinforcement optional.

No sharp or protruding bumpers that may interfere with safe racing.

 

  1. FIRE EXTINGUISHER

All cars MUST have a fire extinguisher in working order and within driver’s reach.

 

  1. FUEL CELLS

Approved fuel cell must be mounted securely to tech inspector’s satisfaction in metal box and in trunk with firewall between cell and driver’s compartment.

NO boat tanks.

1/4” minimum strap material recommended.

 

  1. FUEL

Pump gas or racing fuel is legal.

No additives.

May be randomly checked.

 

  1. FUEL PUMP

After market electric pumps may be used as long as they are hooked through oil pressure switch.

Mechanical pumps recommended.

 

  1. Officials can alter rules as they see fit for the betterment of racing.  Changes will be announced at driver’s meeting prior to event.

 

  1. BATTERY

Must be in battery box with top covered.

Securely fastened to floor, safely away from fuel cell or fuel lines.

Must be bolted and strapped.

 

  1. DRIVESHAFT

Must be painted white and have front loop at front part of driveline. 

¼” material, 2” wide and no farther back than 6”.

Must be steel.

 

  1. TOWING LOOPS

Cable loops must be installed (front and back) and easily accessible so cars can be lifted on end and towed to the pits.

 

  1. All cars must be able to move from line up area to racetrack under their own power.  If pushed, car must start scratch.  All cars must pass tech before competing in a race program.  All cars subject to random checks throughout the season.

 

  1. Heat races will be lined up by draw.

 

  1. All protests against a driver must be made by another driver only.  These are only on the preceding rules.  The track management will have the right to inspect any car on its own at any time for legality.  All track management decisions are final.  Protest fee of $75 on preceding rules only and must be made within 5 minutes of checkered flag.  Protest must be made in writing and accompanied with $75 cash.  If car is legal, driver of that car will get the $75.

 

  1. The races are run with green for racing allowed, white for one lap remaining and checkered for finish of the race.  The red flag will come out if the track is blocked, a rollover, or a fire.  When red comes out, all cars must stop immediately without passing any more cars.  Officials will send you around to line up; telling you what position you are to line up in.  You will be told once and if you do not get in that position, you will NOT be scored.  Yellow flags are thrown only at the flagman’s discretion.  In the event of a yellow flag, lineup will be from the last scored lap.  Anyone passing during yellow will be penalized 4 positions at end of race for each car passed.  A black flag is a disqualification from the race.  Anyone not obeying a black flag will be suspended for a minimum of 2 weeks.

 

  1. Anyone involved in physical contact (fighting) will be banned from Hutchinson Raceway Park.  Hutchinson Raceway Park can fine any team for verbal attacks of any official.

 

  1. It is the obligation of each participant to insure that his/her conduct and equipment comply with all applicable rules and regulations.  Anything not addressed in these rules shall be considered NOT ALLOWED unless approved by officials prior to race date.  Ask first if unsure.  Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.  Their decision is final.  Track Scale and test equipment are final.
