2008 STREET STOCK RULES
Released:  12-27-07

1.  BODIES:
 
American passenger cars only
NO pickups, station wagons, or convertibles
All doors must be welded shut or bolted shut
Trunk lids and hoods must be safety pinned for easy removal.  NOT BOLTED
All upholstery, glass, chrome or loose items must be removed
Car must have holes covered.  Sunroofs and T-tops must be reinforced and enclosed.
American factory cars with complete body and floor boards from front firewall to rear firewall
Front fenders must remain at least 75% of original size
Must retain original front firewall and factory floor boards
No fabricated bodies
Firewall must be moved back, but must retain original material
 
 
2.  ROLL BARS:
 
Full cage bars from four directions
Full welded to frame
Must be gusseted with four (4) inch gussets in all corners
Roll bars must be made of 1-1/2" tubing of .095 wall and must be a good grade of steel
A horizontal bar shall be installed with a bar in rear of cage to be of same material as roll bars
Driver must have 3" head clearance from top of cage
X-bracing must be at least 1" in diameter
All bars around driver's head must be padded for safety
 
 
3.  DRIVER'S EQUIPMENT AND APPAREL:
 
Driver must have helmet, safety belts, and should harnesses over each shoulder
5-point harness is mandatory.  Not over three (3) years old and in good condition
Driver MUST wear full fire suit (top and bottom) and Snell rated helmet, free of cracks
Fire extinguisher mounted within driver's reach is required and in working order
Racing gloves, neck brace, and window nets are mandatory
At least 3 safety bars must be installed in front of driver in windshield opening
Kill switch must be installed within driver's reach and be clearly marked "ON and OFF"
 
 
4.  RACING SEATS:
 
Aluminum racing seats are mandatory.  Must be padded and bolted to frame and roll cage
 
 
5.  ENGINES:
 
Engines must be strictly stock for make and model.  Ex: Ford to Ford, GM to GM
Must be mounted in stock position with solid mounts or chained down
Any flat tappet camshaft
Nothing over .060 overbore
Flat top pistons only!!  Pistons cannot protrude past the top of the engine block
Any manifold
1" adapter or spacer ok
Stock crank shafts
Stock appearing steel rods
Stock OEM heads only
Guide plates poly locks, screw in studs, and roller rockers ok
Must run original diameter springs
Cannot machine for larger springs and no taper springs
No aftermarket heads, Bo ties, turbo heads, SVO, direct connection, Vortec, angle plug, or aluminum heads allowed
NO porting, polishing, grinding, or altering of any kind to cylinder heads, intake manifold, or valve spring seats
NO MACHINE WORK TOLERATED!!
Roller rockers and guide plates are allowed
NO alcohol.  Racing gas only.
NO electric fuel pumps
NO aftermarket shaft mounted rocker arms
H.E.I. with internal coil only
Aftermarket moduals OK, OEM coilpack. No external coils or MSD type boxes
Engines may be no further rearward than # 1 spark plug hole aligning with the centerline of the upper ball joint
 
 
6.  FRAME & SUSPENSION:
 
Minimum 108" wheelbase
Stock frame must match body
Engines must remain in original position
No tubular A-arms
No rack-n-pinion
No coil over suspension
Frnot shocks must remain in stock location
No weight jacks
Adjustable spring spacers allowed
No extra shocks or coils
Stock suspension for make of car
Rear shocks and rear shock placement is optional
NO adjustable shocks
Extra holes in adjustable spring shackle is ok.  Have them marked by the tech before the heat race starts
 
 
7.  CARBURETOR:
 
Only (1) 2- barrel or (1) 4-barrel carburetor.
Stock Holleys or quadrajet.
NO double pumpers.
 
 
8.  STEERING:
 
Stock Steering for the make and model.
Quick release style OK.
Steering box must remain in stock location.
Steering quickners OK.
 
 
9.  WHEELS, TIRES & BRAKES:
 
Wheels:  Any steel wheel, not to exceed 8”.  
Right rear bead lock OK. 
Wheel spacers are NOT permitted.
All wheels must have heavy duty studs and race type lug nuts on the right side.
Tires:  Any DOT street legal tire permitted or IMCA stamped Hoosier tire. 
Stock DOT tire - 9” sidewall to sidewall max and MUST fit in fork measured sidewall to sidewall.
Cross grooving OK.
Four wheel brakes in working condition at all times.
No brake shut off valves.
Brake adjuster and dual master cylinder OK.
Racing pedals OK.
 
 
10.  REAR END, TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH & FLYWHEEL:
 
Transmission:
Any manual four speed or standard three speed with full gears including reverse
Automatic is OK with stock appearing torque converter and in working condition.
Any stock transmission, flywheel, pressure plate.
No aluminum flywheels or pressure plates.
A steel scatter shield ¼” or more is required over the bell housing for manual transmissions and must be securely fastened directly to the frame.
Aftermarket single disc clutches OK.
Auto transmissions must use minimum 11” stock torque converter.
No couplers or multi disc clutches.
Must have visual inspection port no less than 1” in diameter in bell housing.
 
Rear end:
Any passenger car or half ton rear end OK.
Interchanging and locking OK.
9” Ford rear ends OK. 
Floater rearends ok
All brackets must be welded in stock location
 
Official’s rules are final!
 
 
11.  NUMBERS:
 
Cars must have numbers on both sides and top of car and must be at least 20 inches in height and 4” in thickness.
Number MUST be legible.  You may be asked to modify your numbers so that they are legible for scoring purposes.
Maximum of three digit numbers, MUST be visible.
Recommend numbers on left front and right rear. 
All numbers shall be in contrast by color of body.
Duplicate numbers will have to be changed or modified so track officials will have no problems in identification.
 
 
12.  BUMPERS:
 
Type optional
 
 
13.  FIRE EXTINGUISHER:
 
All cars must have a fire extinguisher in working order and within driver's reach
 
 
14.  FUEL TANKS:
 
Must be inside of trunk with screw or lock type cap.
Must be set in steel box with safety straps and secured tightly.
Fuel Cell required.
 
 
15.  FUEL:
 
Pump gas or racing fuel is legal.
No additives.
May be randomly checked.
 
 
16.  FUEL PUMP:
 
No electric fuel pumps allowed
 
 
17.  OFFICIALS CAN ALTER RULES AS THEY SEE FIT FOR THE BETTERMENT OF RACING.  CHANGES WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT DRIVERS MEETING PRIOR TO EVENT.
 
 
18.  MIRRORS:
 
No mirrors allowed
 
 
19.  WEIGHT:
 
MUST weigh 3250 lbs.
All bolt on weight must be securely mounted and pass safety inspection.
NO bolt on weights in driver’s compartment.
HRP scales are FINAL!
 
 

20.  BATTERY:

 

Must be securely  mounted and covered.

Recommended to mount battery under hood.

Must be full enclosed if in cockpit and pass safety inspection.

 

 

21.  DRIVESHAFT:

 

Must be painted white and have front loop at front part of driveline. 

¼” material, 2” wide and no farther back than 6”.

No aluminum driveshafts.

 

 

22.  TOWING LOOPS

 

Cable loops must be installed (front & back) and easily accessible so cars can be lifted on end and towed to the pits.

 

 

23.  EXHAUST

 

Headers with collectors pointed to rear mandatory.

 

 

 24.  STARTER

 

All cars must be equipped with self-starter.

Must be in working condition and car must start on own power at all times.

If car does not start and drive off without assistance, it will go the back of the pack.

 

 

25.  NO TRACTION CONTROL DEVICES OF ANY KIND WILL BE ALLOWED.

 

Example:  But no limited to:  Limited slip rear ends or electronic.

 

 

26.  All cars must be able to move from line up area to racetrack under their own power.  If pushed, car must start scratch.  All cars must pass tech before competing in a race program.  All cars subject to random checks throughout the season.

 

 

27.  Heat races will be lined up by draw.

 

 

28.  All protests against a driver must be made by another driver only.  These are only on the preceding rules.  The track management will have the right to inspect any car on its own at any time for legality.  All track management decisions are final.  Protest fee of $75 on preceding rules only and must be made within 5 minutes of checkered flag.  Protest must be made in writing and accompanied with $75 cash.  If car is legal, driver of that car will get the $75.

 

 

29.  The races are run with green for racing allowed, white for one lap remaining and checkered for finish of the race.  The red flag will come out if the track is blocked, a rollover, or a fire.  When red comes out, all cars must stop immediately without passing any more cars.  Officials will send you around to line up; telling you what position you are to line up in.  You will be told once and if you do not get in that position, you will NOT be scored.  Yellow flags are thrown only at the flagman’s discretion.  In the event of a yellow flag, lineup will be from the last scored lap.  Anyone passing during yellow will be penalized 4 positions at end of race for each car passed.  A black flag is a disqualification from the race.  Anyone not obeying a black flag will be suspended for a minimum of 2 weeks.

 

 

30.  Anyone involved in physical contact (fighting) will be banned from Hutchinson Raceway Park.  Hutchinson Raceway Park can fine any team for verbal attacks of any official.

 

 

31.  It is the obligation of each participant to insure that his/her conduct and equipment comply with all applicable rules and regulations.  Anything not addressed in these rules shall be considered NOT ALLOWED unless approved by officials prior to race date.  Ask first if unsure.  Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.  Their decision is final.  Track Scale and test equipment are final.
